Cap’n Michael went sailing for the first time 11 years ago on a 555 mile trip from Detroit to Chicago.  After that trip he wanted to learn everything he could about boats and sailing.  He soon went on to sail the Caribbean, participate in sailboat regatta racing, get his Master Captain’s license, quit his day-job, and started working as a dedicated full time Captain.   A few years later he developed the concept for Go Sailing Chicago and turned his dream into a reality.

For Cap’n Michael, Go Sailing Chicago is not just a sailboat charter company serving the Chicago-land area, it is an opportunity and your link to any and all things sailing.  It’s his vision to serve the Chicago community well.  Like it says on the home page, if by the time you are done looking through this site and don’t find what you want, we will refer you to another site or company just to help out!  Cap’n Michael absolutely loves sailing and he wants to share that love and passion with you.  The Cap’n says, “get out there and Go Sailing Chicago!”

K - “The Admiral”
Meet K, the Admiral of Go Sailing Chicago.  Kirsten, or K as she likes to be called, is not only the Admiral but also one of the owners of Go Sailing Chicago.  K was introduced to boating as a child on the west coast taking trips out to Catalina Island off the coast of California.  A few years ago she was formally introduced to sailing and never looked back.  Not only is K an owner but you will find her out on the water on many of the charters.  She believes in a hands-on approach to ensuring a great experience for each and every customer.  K is involved in all aspects of operations and is the main contact person for all of your sailing needs.   The Admiral says, “Go Sailing Chicago!”
Cap’n Dave's love for the water began on his parent’s power boat at age  five and he has been on the water ever since.  While living in California during the early '90's , Dave discovered sailboat racing and began his sailing career on an International Offshore Racing Yacht and the hook was set.  In the last 17 years, Dave has sailed the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans, the Great Lakes, the Chesapeake Bay, and the Caribbean.  Sailing is permanently woven into his lifestyle.  In fact, he just married his wife Laura last year, whom he met at a sailing regatta in Chicago.  Dave is Master Captain with Go Sailing Chicago and is looking forward to sharing his passion with you.

Cap’n Taylor
Cap’n Taylor, or BJ as she likes to be called, began boating as a child on the Chain-of-Lakes.  In 1979 a trip up the coast of California called her to sailing.  During that trip while on a 21-foot sailboat, standing in wonder of the delicate balance of sail/wind/keel dynamics, BJ was hooked on the excitement of being, “one with nature-disconnected from engines.  It felt like the rush of downhill skiing, but warm.”  The pattern was set with the purchase of two boats, sailing the Atlantic, the Pacific, the Caribbean, and anywhere there was water really, starting sailing companies, all the while earning myriad recognitions in the corporate arena. BJ is a social and corporate retreat sailing expert and wants you to Go Sailing Chicago!

hundreds of people how to sail and introduced many hundreds more to the sport.   Needless to say he knows these waters like the back of his hand.  Just ask him how deep the lake is at any given moment.  I bet he gets it right!  Cap’n Mark has made numerous lake crossings and an even an ocean crossing.  He remains an active member of the Chicago Yacht club and has participated in the Chicago Race to Mackinaw, the Tri-State, and many other sailboat races.  Cap’n Mark is a Master Captain and wants you to Go Sailing Chicago!
